More recycling!

August 11, 2008

After moving house recently, I am shocked to see how much paper rubbish I had kicking about! There was stuff everywhere and after a lot of sorting my bin was looking impressive, even if I say so myself.

I was left feeling pretty proud of myself at the sight of my (new!) overflowing bin.

Some sad news

May 28, 2008

I’m afraid to say that after my exciting news a few days ago, my recycling efforts have come to a dramatic, if only temporary, stop. My paper recycling bin HAS BEEN STOLEN!

Last seen Tuesday night, my housemate returned today to tell me the sad news.

We are now in talks with Birmingham City Council to get a replacement but I have worries that it just won’t be the same…

If you have any information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you.

Doing my bit!

May 26, 2008

Oh, and just so you know, my paper recycling box is practically overflowing… and it’s not picked up until Wednesday!

I’m either really good at recycling or getting a lot of junk mail…

World Environment Day

May 26, 2008

So, I’ve been away for a while- I’ve been snowed under with work for uni and unfortunately that means my blog has been suffering. But deadlines are creeping up and all that…

Have you been paying attention to all the news about WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY? It’s coming! It’s hosted by New Zealand this year and focuses on kicking the carbon habit. My latest story on ENO has info about what’s going on in New Zealand this year.

First podcast

March 11, 2008

This is the first go at our climate change podcast, recorded last week.
Tuuli explains it pretty well, it’s a bit rough around the edges, but it’s a taste of what’s to come.

Yesterday’s recording went well so hopefully we’ll get that all edited before the end of the week.

Podcasts

March 10, 2008

Today I’ll be meeting up with a few other journalists from ENO to make a podacst on climate change.
I’ll let you know how it goes and will publish it when it’s all edited up.

The life of an online journalist

March 3, 2008

So, I’ve been struggling this week. The work is time consuming, I’m not a natural journalist and I was completely uninspired.

I’m not sure what happened today but thanks to some tips from my editor Rachael, it ended with a story on our website. Have a look, everyone else is doing really well and there is some great journalism on there.

I have written about the problems in the whaling industry at the moment, any comments are welcome.

The floods

February 18, 2008

Mackay floodsYou’ve probably heard about the flooding in Australia at the moment, but did you know that 80% of NSW is still suffering in severe drought conditions?

And now Cyclone Nicholas is hitting WA. Floods have been predicted.
